1. About Givlo

Givlo is a UK-based technology platform that enables donors to discover and support registered charities, and provides charity management tools (“Givlo Pro”) to charity administrators.

Givlo is not itself a charity. It does not hold donated funds on behalf of charities or donors, and it does not provide regulated payment services. Payment processing is handled by Stripe (see section 8 below).

By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Givlo.

2. Who may use Givlo

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

3. Charity administrators

If you register as a charity administrator, you confirm that:

  • Your charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (or an equivalent UK regulator).
  • You are authorised to act on behalf of the charity and to accept these terms.
  • The information you provide about the charity (including its name, registration number, and contact details) is accurate.
  • You will comply with applicable UK charity law, fundraising regulations, and data protection law.
  • You are responsible for managing Gift Aid declarations and submitting claims to HMRC. Givlo provides tools to help record declarations but does not submit claims on your behalf.

4. Donors

If you use Givlo to make donations, you agree that:

  • You will provide accurate personal information, especially where you choose to claim Gift Aid.
  • Gift Aid declarations are legally binding. You should only make a Gift Aid declaration if you are a UK taxpayer and meet HMRC's eligibility criteria. If your circumstances change such that you no longer qualify, you should notify the charity.
  • Donations are processed by Stripe and passed to the charity's connected account. Once a donation has been processed, it is generally non-refundable except where required by law.

5. Platform role

Givlo is a platform. It facilitates connections between donors and charities but does not control how charities use the funds they receive. Givlo does not endorse, guarantee, or verify the activities of any charity beyond confirming its registration status.

6. Fees and transparency

Givlo does not deduct a platform fee from donations. Instead, donors are given the option to add a small contribution (currently 3%) to cover Givlo's running costs. This is entirely optional and defaults to off — donors must actively choose to contribute.

Stripe's payment processing fees apply separately and are deducted from the donation by Stripe before funds reach the charity's account.

Givlo also offers paid subscription plans for charities that want advanced management tools. Subscription pricing is shown on the platform and may change with notice.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Provide false or misleading information
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the platform
  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from the platform

8. Payments and Stripe

All payment processing on Givlo is handled by Stripe Payments UK Ltd. Givlo does not collect, store, or have access to your full payment card details.

Donated funds are transferred to the charity's connected Stripe account. By using the payment features of Givlo, you also agree to Stripe's consumer terms.

9. Account security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at hello@givlo.co.uk. We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorised use of your account where you have failed to keep your credentials secure.

10. Service availability

Givlo is an evolving platform. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We aim to keep the platform available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Planned downtime will be communicated in advance where practical.

Some features described on the platform may be marked as “coming soon” or “on our roadmap”. These are not commitments and may change.

11. Intellectual property

The Givlo name, logo, and platform design are owned by Givlo. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without our written permission. Content you provide (such as charity descriptions) remains yours, but you grant Givlo a licence to display it on the platform.

12. Privacy and data

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We use only essential cookies — see our Cookie Policy for details.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Givlo's total liability to you — whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — is limited to the total fees you have paid to Givlo in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Givlo is not liable for the actions, omissions, or conduct of charities or other users on the platform. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@givlo.co.uk.

Givlo may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms. Where possible, we will give you reasonable notice and an explanation. On termination, we will retain data only as required by law (for example, Gift Aid records for six years).

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

16. Contact
